By Amanda Emery Although the weather outside was less than ideal on February 9, the tenants and staff at Terrace Heights Retirement Community helped spread the love with their annual Valentine’s BINGO. The game has been a popular event at Terrace Heights for many years and 2010 was no exception. There were 36 individuals - both tenants and members of the community - who participated this year, despite the weather conditions. All who came had a great time, and were treated with Valentine-themed refreshments. The afternoon was filled with fun, and it began as soon as the participants arrived. Just for coming, they had a chance to receive one of seven door prizes! After signing in and entering for door prizes, people received their BINGO cards and were ready to win even more. As each BINGO was called, individuals selected a reward and kept it concealed until the end of the afternoon. When the game was completed, players without gifts were able to choose from the ones remaining on the prize table, or those individuals who had won multiple times could share the love and give away their extras, making everyone a champion! Shari Hanson, manager of Terrace Heights, wished to thank Ethel Passer for donating her BINGO calling skills for the afternoon. Shari also wanted to recognize Carrie Pasch who volunteered to pass out gifts. The afternoon would not have been the same with out the help of these two ladies. Terrace Heights hosts a number of activities throughout the year that are open to the community, such as the annual Valentine’s BINGO game. On Monday, March 22, harpist Shari Sarazin will perform at 2 pm.
